COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Serving Others Through
the Love of Christ.

Our congregation also has a passion for serving others, and we offer a weekly Thursday soup kitchen, host a mobile homeless shelter in the winter, sponsor regular donation drives and special offerings, and provide personal caregiving for the needy through our Deacons and Health Ministry teams.

Our church hosts a Soup Kitchen every Thursday, where the hungry of Lapeer can receive a free warm meal between 4:00pm and 5:00pm, with volunteers gathering to cook meals. During the winter, our church hosts a mobile homeless shelter organized by The Refuge, where guests receive dinner, breakfast, and a warm place to sleep during the colder months. Volunteers are always welcome to join us in ministry in either program. We also support Love INC Lapeer and in partnership with them provide emergency relief to people struggling financially in our community. Finally, we take up a 2 Coins a Meal offering on the last Sunday of each month to raises funds for local and national hunger relief efforts.

CARING FOR THE NEEDY

Our team of Deacons display God’s love by caring for members of our church and the wider Lapeer community by visiting the sick, writing letters, helping people in financial or spiritual crisis, supporting church fellowship, and more. If you would like to refer someone to the Deacons for support, call the office at 810-664-8565, or email us at office@fpclapeer.org.

DEACONS

Our church supports missions around the world through the work of our denomination. In particular, we sponsor Josh Heikkila in his missionary work supporting churches and mission partners across West Africa. We also collect special offerings around major church holidays, from Christian work towards world peace to caring for both retired and aspiring clergy to changing the lives of at-risk youth. Our congregation also sponsors individual missions projects as needs arise.

GLOBAL MISSIONS

Josh Heikkila was appointed as a PC(USA) mission co-worker in October 2009, Josh is regional liaison for West Africa. He facilitates support for the programs, relationships and activities of PC(USA) partners. Joshua was ordained as a PC(USA) minister of Word and Sacrament in 2004 in the Presbytery of Chicago and is currently a member of the Presbytery of the Twin Cities Area.
